I’m back from my Cincy trip, having taken loads of pictures and watched all three of Fernando’s matches (singles + doubles) It’ll take me some time to get everything uploaded and posted, but watch this space! Fernando had a rough double tiebreak loss in his first match against Mardy Fish, 6-7¹, 6-7⁴, a repeat of his loss here last year to Guillermo Garcia-Lopez. He fared a bit better in doubles, he and Feliciano winning their first round match against the Brazilian duo of Marcelo Melo and Thomaz Bellucci, but falling in the super tiebreak in their second round match to the seeded team of Lukasz Kubot and Oliver Marach, 4-6, 7-5 [4-10]

Also, check out Fernando’s photoshoot for the September issue of GQ magazine in the US. I’ll try to pick up the magazine this weekend in case there’s an interview inside, but in the meantime, we have these great scans to enjoy! As always, click the link to get to the full gallery!

Style Report: adidas Wimbledon & US Open

adidas has released some videos featuring the outfits the players, including Fernando, will be wearing for grass season and Wimbledon and the upcoming American hard court season & US Open. There is a general video of all the players, an interview with Fernando and a making-of Fernando’s photoshoot. Hopefully we’ll get some good pictures out soon! Enjoy!

Fernando’s New Racquets

Alan Hill from Talk Tennis at Tennis Warehouse has found the pictures of Fernando’s new Dunlop racquets.

Dunlop brings a new level of control and feel to their racquet line with the impressive 3 Hundred Tour. A tight 18/20 string pattern offers excellent ball bite and a plush and comfortable feel. This racquet impressed our TW playtesters from all areas of the court, making it a great choice for intermediate to advanced all court players. From the baseline there’s ample control to take full swings at the ball without fear of over-hitting. Grip on slice and topspin shots is excellent allowing the player to stay aggressive and add further control with spin. At net this one feels fast and mobile yet also provides a high level of stability. Serving with the 3 Hundred Tour produces similar results to groundstrokes – a nice combination or power, spin and control. A truly impressive racquet from all areas of the court, this one is a must demo.

US Open Style Report: Fernando Verdasco

Nando will be wearing the Men’s Edge zip front tee with clean front graphic and tonal burnout mesh along the back and underarms for ventilation, $55, He will also wear the Men’s Edge Bermuda. His footwear? The Barricade V, $120. He’ll be playing with his trusty Tecnifibre TFight 320 VO2 Max racquet, $179.

I really liked the yellow-ish color from the promo picture, although the actual shirt looks more orange, and a bit TOO orange for my liking. Well, he looks good in almost anything, so we’ll see how it looks when he’s wearing it on the hard courts of New York :)
